Say, you're right: from here to the end of the month is just coasting!

I mean, sure, I've got two recordings lined up which I want to purchase in February.  But I'm planning on making March a "dry month," too . . . .

Of course, if a certain set of quartets were to show up, it just might trigger another buying spree.  Otherwise, I might be tempted to go a year.  Hmmm...what if I told myslef I couldn't buy anymore CDs until I've listened at least once to every one I already have?

Yes, just catching up on listening to what one has already bought is a pretty easy new-purchase-deferral strategy! : )

Today is the last day of January, of course . . . but since I faltered here, I am extending the wallet seal until Monday, 14 February.

Anyone else? No?

But that was a non-classical purchase. Surely that doesn't count!!  :P

Hah!

This is one space where, for me, it's just all music

I bought the Supraphon Mackerras memorial box with Martinu and Janacek this month, but it hasn't arrived yet, and anyway my no-CDs deadline is still far, far ahead.  :(

What I ordered on Dec28 hasn't arrived yet from amazon.uk.

I've never ordered from amazon.uk before.

Not getting things in the mail is one of the biggest CDCDCD triggers, no? I DEMAND SASSISFACTION!!!

Until recently, items ordered from the UK (Amazon, MDT, Presto) arrived in the States a few days--faster than US media mail.  My last UK order, placed Dec 21st from MDT and not shipped until Jan 5 (give 'em a break, it was Christmas/New Year) still hasn't arrived.  Other posts here suggest it's Homeland "Security" at fault.

Quote1 order placed in the last 30 days

. . . and that was coffee (thereby hangs a tale).

Meanwhile, I'm good with this.

I had a sneaking suspicion it was something stupid like that.

Feeling great, thanks!

I don't see floodgates opening on Monday, either . . . so all is calm, all is bright

Finally received the Vermeer set from MDT, more than a month after it shipped via air mail.  Strange.  Box arrived intact, obviously undisturbed since posting.  Now listening to op. 59:1.  Big sound--full and a bit dark--broad tempos but sharp, not soporific.  Seems like a nice alternative to the cycles I already have.

Still haven't bought any CDs in the new year, though I have been tempted once or twice. ;^)

Sounds like the Vermeers indeed! They're only my second set, but they've completely shoved the Endellions out of the picture. Not that there's anything wrong with the Endellion Quartet at all, but I got that set because it was the cheapest and the Vermeer Quartet seems to be interpretively exactly what I want to hear in this music, right now, and as the Endellions were a good introduction to Op 18 so the Vermeers are just how I want to be introduced to Opp 59/3, 74, 95, 127... at least as far as I know.  ;D

Glad you are enjoying it.  I've only had the complete set for a few years, but got the late quartet recordings when they were individual "new releases" on Telefunken.  My favorite cycle overall.

You give me hope, Dave!  Perhaps mine will arrive before much longer, too.
