The new erato

I seem to remember that Callas had weight issues as well. Are you going for the fatties Marvin?   ;)

It appears that Knardahl was no welterweight, either...

Add to the list Kristen Flagstaad's (a substantially large woman) erotic rendition of Isolde in Furtwangler's classic Tristan und Isolde and I think you might be on to something The new erato!  I mean who needs waif models when you have such heavy weight sumptuous beauties!  8)

Fine thanks. Apart from suffering a mild case of Grieg Overload in sympathy.

Is it possible to overload on Grieg?

Depends. I seem to recall someone asking 'Wollen Sie den totallen Grieg?'. In that case, I'd rather say no thanks.

Bought for my dad:

And I bought myself these two goodies:

For your dad. I see.
I just had a sandwich for my dad. I might have a beer for him when I get home.

The new erato

I seem to have introduced the notion that purchasing CDs is a matter for fun and jesting. I'm sorry.

My dad is the Mahlerian in the family and he didn't own anything from Nott's series on Tudor, so this seemed like a good purchase. Speaking of Nott's Mahler, I did hear his 7th many years ago and was mightily impressed with it.

Some cheap and easy from Arkivmusic's 2 Day sale

kishnevi

I have long had the duo of the Ninth Symphony, the Fifth PC, and a Mozart PC.
So, after that Arkivmusic order, I decided to complete Sawallisch's Beethoven cycle off Amazon MP.

I see a lot of mainstream repertory purchases (that not there's anything wrong with that if that's what you like). I have days where I think Grieg is pretty great. I have other days where I think Grieg is overrated. Today, I'm on the fence. :) This said, I do think his Peer Gynt and the Piano Concerto are two of my least favorite pieces. I seem to now be of the opinion that his chamber music is better and provides a clearer view into the composer's heart. His violin sonatas are must-hears IMHO and the SQ isn't bad either.
