Was really looking forward to watching Cam Norrie vs. Rafa Nadal's match on t.v. today (on now).  Alas, my cable reception is down.

Antihistamines hit me harder than most people.  I avoid them unless it is truly bad.

And I spoke too soon re cable, though (knock on wood) it's back now, so I'm watching the two lefties duke it out.

I can boil water, and an egg. That's about the extent of my cooking experience.  :-*

On the other hand, I've become uncommonly good at eating.  ;D

Sometimes antihistamines can leave me feeling "jittery".  :(

Well, that's a start!  Think positively.  I'll bet that you could make a salad or say something like a tuna fish sandwich.  :)

There is a little trick, commonly food items at the store will have simple recipes on the back.  3-5 ingredients, minimum prep work.  It is a nice big step up from frozen meals and doesn't require much experience.

Also, 30-minute meal cookbooks have that same energy.  But if you want to learn the basics to be able to muck around in the kitchen, this is the book:

But really simple idea: season and grill some meat, have a starch, some vegetables.  Done!

Salads are a fun easy way to get into it.  Mix in what you like, it is hard to go wrong.

That's a great book!  And good idea re recipes and ingredients.

And it's often cheaper and healthier to make (at least some) meals for yourself too. @LKB Make the most of fresh produce this time of year.  Are there any farm stands near you?  Fresh and local tomatoes:  sliced and layered with *some mozzarella, maybe on a bed of soft lettuce greens (vs. iceberg), topped with a drizzle of olive oil and some balsamic vinegar and if possible, some fresh basil leaves...a sprinkling of salt and fresh pepper = heaven!  Or tomatoes in a salad?  Either cherry/grape or wedges of bigger tomatoes, etc.

*Not the processed stuff that you buy sliced from the deli section of a supermarket.  The "fresh" white oval balls that you can find in the specialized cheese section.  Slice relatively thinly and put under each slice of tomato.

Just some ideas for you.  :)

All the more kudos to the diminutive, teenage girl in charge of keeping the discipline in burger ordering! If only more such people were in charge of keeping the discipline in whatever!

According to master accorders the widespread outages around the web emanated from a defective software update from CrowdStrike as well as a problem with Azure. I went to Schwab and they had a couple of urgent messages which said trading might be delayed but nothing really bad is going on. YT has been hit hard, though I often can get around blockage by switching location. Other sites are mostly OK.

I got an email from Schwab saying a payment was returned unpaid, so I called them and they said it was a glitch related to the outage and nothing had actually happened. I then navigated to my local bank to confirm that my monthly payment from the brokerage was there, and it was.

The grapevine says travelers at airports are having problems, and a taxi guy I know says he's getting business taking people home due to all kinds of scheduling problems with flights.

They just had a clip on CNN about Delta still having lots of problems.  About 400 flights cancelled and lots of lost luggage.   :(

I went out to Columbia to get out of the house yesterday. I visited this vast bookstore that has multiple rooms. And ate out at an excellent Indian restaurant. But knowing that my pet dog wasn't waiting for me at home was hard.

I'm going to mow today, and for the first time, Hershey won't keep me company while I pick up the pine cones and tree limbs pre-mowing. And he won't be there to roll in the grass post-mow.

Anyway, my bookshelves are beyond full. I will do some culling and go to the library with donations. Also, I'll move some of my Origami books that aren't being frequently used to my classroom. That way, they are available for my Origami interim class but are relatively secure. That differs from the books I donated to the school's art room. That is not secure, but they provide opportunities for students to learn Origami whenever possible. And my most precious books will remain in my private library at home.

Sounds like you had a nice day out!  What books did you end up buying?  And Indian food....yum!

I'm sure that it must be quite the adjustment not having your Hershey around to greet you when you come home and to keep you company.   :(  Perhaps (at some point in time) you might consider fostering a dog; it could be good for both of you.  Just a thought.

;D Sounds like you had a field day in there!  May I ask which bookstore you like in Columbia?  Always looking for good ones to visit.

If you ever visit NYC, do check out the *Strand Bookstore.  Been a bit since I've visited it, but it's lots of fun to poke around in there; it's slogan is "Eight miles of books".  :)  They also have a rare book annex.  And they also have an on-line site from which you can order.

*It's a combo of used plus some discounted new books and proof copies

Chilling at my brother's house in Kansas. At the moment, we're discussing and speculating on the nature and timing of Iran's inevitable retaliation for Ismail Haniyeh's assassination.

Aside from that the weather sucks, the food has been great and I look forward to the celebration on Sunday. 8)

Enjoy the a/c--perhaps go to a movie?  Or check out a local pool/lake?  Most of all, enjoy the company!

Currently battling "olympicitis".   :)
