This is hard core Neil Young.

The "live your own life" chords give me chills.

Going back to the Carpenters, this tune from their first album is surprising.
Much darker than their later hits, not immediately recognizable as the same group.

Used to love this album but haven't heard it since my last 8-track died.

I know it did finally get released a few years ago in a box set.

That's what I like about The Carpenters - their music does surprise. This debut album of theirs is more varied than their later efforts when they have found their (commercially successful) style, but there's still surprises. It has been frustrating how difficult this first album is to get on CD. Sure, there are plenty of sellers, but the asked prices are ridiculous. Used CDs of a band this big and well-known should be cheap, but no they are not...  ???
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

Nice, though! The lyrics are, well, not my cup of tea, but the arrangements are everything. Thx.

Missed this when it came out last year.  My bad.  This is at least as good as their debut.

A Memphis Minnie song I hadn't heard (or heard of) before.

Pointed out in a Dylan book talking about the Alicia Keyes reference in the song "Thunder On The Mountain" as a very deliberate nod to this song. Which, yes, it clearly is.

It was in a chapter considering Dylan's "plagiarisms".

You may know that Abigail Washburn is married to Bela Fleck (virtuoso banjo player) and they have made some really good records.  Both are expanding the idea of music created with the banjo.

Since the movie O Brother Where Art Thou there has been something of a revival of acoustic old time, string band, music which has morphed into old time adjacent styles.

It is one of my favorite kinds of music.  Each morning as I workout on my exercise bike I listen to a podcast hosted by an old time clawhammer banjoist whose guests include young old time musicians, who often are part of this movement.

I have noticed with pleasure your recent involvement with some of this music.
