Thanks, Harry,  some Romantic chamber music there that I don't have and look forward to hearing.

Your welcome :)
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

Thanks, Harry. I placed an order which I hope will work out (my german is a bit rusted  :D)

Very interesting stuff indeed. When I receive it I'll post in the New Purchases thread.

My pleasure! I am curious to what you ordered.
If you have any question regarding the German language just ask.
There is a English version of JPC but that is a rather crappy affair to be honest.

DFD's Brahms 4th symphony with the Czech philharmonic has long been a great favourite of mine.
This 2 cd set comprises my favourite Brahms works, barring none.

Excerpts were very convincing: period instruments, transparent yet reverberant sound, good choral diction.
The Creation is one of my all time fav's. I have high hopes for it.

And finally:

Same impression: transparent, luminous sound from PI, Gruberova in good voice,
and music I never tire of !

In the new release bin at JPC there are quite a few Brilliant recordings for more than half price, amongst then the excellent Richard Strauss nox for 13 euros.  The Clementi sonatas, 3 volumes of them, and more....Take a look.

Berkshire have added a new label in FC Records. This is all music with Jouni Somero.  But a lot of it has now gotten quite expensive, so this may be an opportunity to get some good deals on this label. it is solo piano and lieder (though mostly just piano), covering several 19th and 20th century composers not found elsewhere. In particular, I was interested in the finnish piano anthology and a disc of Hugo Reinhold (which is ridiculously expensive at Amazon). Many of his disc are available on Amazon unlimited if you subscribe to that. Overall, I have found his performances to be quite good in the discs I already have.
Be kind to your fellow posters!!

This box set is pretty cheap considering what it used to go for:

For those that don't own this set, this would as good of an opportunity as any.

Pre-order about a dollar a disk ($70). The first was (and is) a fantastic box.

Mookie! So nice to see you back. And you come bearing gifts. Vivarte IS my favorite label, after all. :)

Happy to be of service ;D  It's amazing they are starting out at a discount bin price--especially for such a glorious product. Certainly Sony has not decided to eschew capitalist gains for the sake of disseminating art and beauty, but the end result is about the same.  As I have often said: it is a great time to be a music collector!

Presto has the detailed tracklist. I have about 80% of it already! So I cancelled. If you have the Bylsma boxes, the complete Tafelmusik on Sony box and some of the Leonhardt boxes you will have most of this one.

I should have bought the Tafelmusik when it was $50, now it is OOP or something like that and expensive.

???
That is an unpleasant surprise--although not exactly shocking. I actually thought the Tafelmusic WAS the Vivarte II (I used to call it that, it says Vivarte on one side of the box).   This one doesn't actually come out for a couple of weeks yet. I'll have to see whether I want to keep the order in or not...

The new Mozart Edition is available for a tad under £175 at Amazon UK.

A couple of days ago Amazon France advertised it for just under half this for a few hours. Orders were quickly cancelled on the grounds of a pricing error.

Interesting.  That's under $1 per CD shipped to the US.  Wonder if they'll ship?
