This may not be the right place to ask -- but here goes.

Do any of you guys know an easy to use piece of software which I can use to rip the sound from a DVD onto CD-R (I'm using VISTA)?

Oh, and another thing. I found this great tool recently for ripping the sound from youtube streams -- it creates MP3 files on your computer.

DVD-Audio? No idea. I've seen the question coming up on hydrogenaudio.org sometimes, maybe have a look over there.

I'm using DVD Audio Extractor. Very handy for extracting e.g. the LPCM audio track from opera and concert DVD's. It's no freeware, though.

Mandryka, that thread wasn't really a good place for this question so I've made this new one for you. $:) :) (If you like, you can change the subject by editing your first post.)

For free, why not try one of the methods described here:

http://forum.videohelp.com/topic205836.html

They worked pretty well for me when I had Windows.

If you're using Linux then I suppose mplayer should be capable of doing the trick (-dumpaudio -dumpfile or something along those lines).

All this assuming you're talking about video DVDs. I'm not sure ripping sound from a DVD-Audio is possible or at least if there's an easy way to do it.

Thanks everyone.

I have tried DVD audio extractor.

It seemed to go OK -- it made some FLAC files. But then I couldn't burn them (I use a very good tool called Burnn (www.burrrn.net) --it's never let me down before.)

I'll try the others tomorrow and keep you informed.

Can you play the FLAC files? Are they 16/44?
