Blimey, Gurn, has the fate been mean to you!... A Vermontese (is that the right term? I concocted it after Piedmontese...  :D ) turned Texan, when you should actually have been born a Viennese. Have you ever considered emmigrating from the wilderness to civilization?  >:D

I could handle Vienna, for a few decades anyway, which is all I have left, I reckon. That was a great compliment, thanks!  :)

Does anyone know if this is the same set? A newer or older release? Something else?

If it is, then I have it already, I just didn't recognize the cover! :o

Any thoughts on this set? I never see it mentioned anywhere, but the playing on it is excellent. Of course, it IS some of my favorite players (Wallfisch & Tafelmusik)... For some reason, I seem to have a lot of obscure recordings. Ah well, my cross to bear.  :)

Ah, then you are really going to like it! I have Manze/Romanesca doing these same sonatas, but Biondi has a lot more pep. Bueno!  :)

Hard to remember how much Guglielmi used to get around before his Brilliant contract. I've always liked these concertos, I used to have a Philips disk which had them (I solisti?? can't remember), but this is better to my ears.

Note: thread and topic appropriate recording.

Has anyone heard this recording?  I see the same group has a Biber recording as well.

I found that recording to be a bit meh...
Or perhaps I was having a bad ear day when I played it.

It is the same recording. HIPster posted the cover of the original cover, this is the reissue after the ARCANA catalogue had been revived:

High on my list now.

The group Modo Antiquo has several excellent Vivaldi releases.

I particularly like this disc of Opera Overtures and instrumental music ~

Isn't it awful?  :)  Since our last adventure a couple of days ago, I have been going through my Vivaldi (which has been understandably ignored due to my other pressing issues), and discovered that I also have that Opera Overtures disk. I can't remember anything about it, so it will get a close relisten tonight.   0:)

I don't have the actual CD, but your comment piqued my curiosity and - with the recording available through Apple Music - I decided to give it a chance this morning.

IMO, Lina Tur Bonet's playing is highly enjoyable, with a beautiful and superbly controlled tone. Her partners are also very good. Maybe your disappointment has more to do with the works themselves: not Vivaldi's more fast and furious compositions?  :)

Anyway, I fully enjoyed the disk:

Revisiting this disc now: it holds up and then some for me.   :)

Sound is very good here and the players all seem to be totally committed to Vivaldi in their playing.  Beautiful interplay throughout.

Well, this came today (already!); if Beyer was very good 5 years ago when they did 4 Seasons, you need to hear her now, she's OTT! This is a concept album, which for me is just fine, it's what I do with my music already. There are definitely some things on here I've never heard, even if they aren't world premieres. Some of them are reconstructions, one is a fantasia! Anyway, if you are on the fence, don't be, get it!  :)

I pulled this disk with some Opus 14 cello sonatas out of the pile this morning; I had forgotten what a wonderful cellist Roel Dieltens is! The tone he teases out of his instrument is incredible, and he plays these sonatas like he loves them, not like it is a base he needs to touch while passing 'GO'. :)

Browsing through my Vivaldi recordings I stunbled upon this beauty which I can´t even remember hearing:

Will give it a spin tonight.

That looks good! I have not seen that disk before, I'll have to see if it is available still here. :)
