Those of you familiar with the music streaming service Spotify will be aware of the huge volume of music freely available.

If you are like me though you will have been frustrated by the amount of classical dross (chillout albums / Now That's What I Call Baroque) that comes up when you use the search facility.

I was wondering if those discerning listeners who use the service would be willing to post here those excellent recordings that they have found to be available

I'll start you off with these three

Put Levine in the middle and you'd have a perfect family photo!

Ataraxia

This thread needs some attention!

I typed Charles-Valentin Alkan into the search bar and found all sorts of goodies.

Ataraxia

Thanks, Holden!

I'm not sure how to create Spotify links but they have the LvB symphony box set by Gunter Wand and NDR-Sinfonieorchester. I'm listening to #7 right now.

Ataraxia

This Brahms Requiem is quite tasty! I've had the CD for quite a while now, but it's good to find it available on Spotify.

Is that Rattle, Dave? Berlin or Birmingham?

None of these.

Tanks. (Did I imagine it, or were you also listening to a Rattle recording thereof?)

Listening to Rattle--who I don't mind at all in this work--while searching for other Requiems, yes.

Indeed, I see that in some quarters, Rattle is well spoken of with the Op.45 . . . if I figure I need another, I may just snaffle that one in.

I'm not sure how to create Spotify links ........

I'm sure there's a quicker way but:  Spotify gives you a "share" option and will automatically paste a hyperlink into an email for you.  copy/paste this link into the GMG reply and you are done.

Thanks. Yeah, I figured that out after I posted.
