Mahler, you ought to go see it.

Mozart? Nah. What you need is Bartok. Rub some dirt on it!
How did you like this and the Webern?

Johann Johannsson: The Miners' Hymns
Music From the Film by Bill Morrison

"The Miners' Hymns" is a collaboration between American filmmaker Bill Morrison and Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson who, with images and music, have created a wordless documentary to depict the ill-fated mining community in North East England. Created from BFI, BBC and other archival footage, "The Miners Hymns" celebrates social, cultural, and political aspects of the extinct industry, and the strong regional tradition of colliery brass bands.

Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

The Schoenberg is okay -- I actually like the first movement. I didn't really like the Webern much right now. I'm listening to Berg's "Three Pieces for Orchestra" which isn't bad, but I don't really get it. I'm trying, though! :)
Beethoven's Op. 133 -- A fugue so bad that even Beethoven himself called it "Grosse".

One of my favorite works from any composer. I see this is the Dohnanyi performance. I'll have to revisit this one. It came in a Schoenberg Decca two-fer, which is OOP now (of course). :)

:P No, Ken keep listening to Mozart. It soothes the soul. I find that 'prettier' music really helps me when I'm ill.

Now:

Listening to Asyla. A pretty cool work but Ades was not the next 'big thing' in classical as the British press built him up to be. I don't listen to his music much because there are so many other composers who have done similar music better. Anyway, I'm good on Ades for a couple more years now. ;D

Listen to Three Botticelli Pictures. I believe it's on that Orpheus Chamber Orchestra recording. This is top-drawer Respighi (for me).

I have never quite seen what the fuss was about. I expect it was mostly about marketing and the never ending quest for The Great British Composer. Who is, of course, already well-known, but not under contract to then-EMI.

Now here's a British composer I like:

Listening to The Rose Lake. Great work and performance.

What always puzzles me about the British press and their own music is they'll roll out the red carpet for someone like Ades, but they'll dump on a composer like Tippett or Britten and come up some of the most asinine stories regarding their personal lives.

Well Britten is the holy grail. Tippett was ahem tipped as the new Britten like Ades for a bit. Not remotely IMO.
Britten was quite openly and uncontroversially homosexual all his career. That never seemed to be an issue in the UK.
Lennie too for the most part.  The obsession with disapproving seems more recent. Progress is not a given.  :(

Thanks for posting the link to the concert North Star! Handel arias and Kozena's voice both agree very well with my musical inclinations...   :)

You're welcome! Agreed, Handel & Kozena fit together marvelously. :)

Britten is easily my favourite of the Brits, too. RVW & Elgar aren't that far behind, though.
