Woah -- I was just listening to Gould play the D minor keyboard concerto an hour ago!
Beethoven's Op. 133 -- A fugue so bad that even Beethoven himself called it "Grosse".

First ever listen to this work:

Some organ music``
KUCHAR, J.B. BACH, KOLB, VIOLA, and  MAICHELBECK Sonata Quarta
Ewald Kooiman, organ (Andreas Silbermann organ at Ottrott-le-Haut)
FRESCOBALDI, SICHER, and BACH: Passacaglia and Fugue in c
Siegfried Hildenbrand, organ (Cathedral at St. Gallen, Switzerland)   and
SCHUBERT: Symphony no.9 in C "Great"
Vienna Tonkuenstler Orch.,  Kurt Wöss(?), cond.
I think they drop the repeats for this early LP recording, it helps but the age of the LP doesn't.

Mahler, you ought to go see it.
he was as f*cked-up as you are."

And in the spirit of Entente Cordiale, now, a first listen to Bach's French Suites BWV 812/813/814...still Gould...  ;D

Hanson's Romantic? VT nailed it.

Yes, you might say crucified.  Good thing our loves are not governed by reason alone; I'm ill-prepared to abandon a work that has given me so much pleasure.

Some more new arrivals today:

Shostakovich, D. - String Quartets, V.2 w/ the Pacifica Quartet - received all 4 volumes today and started w/ this one - enjoying!

Dussek, Jan - Duos Harp & Fortepiano w/ Masumi Nagasawa on a single action harp & Richard Egarr on a fortepiano - about to put a longer post in the Dussek thread, for those interested - Dave :)

Bought this while on vacation and been looking forward to it.  The CPO has impressed me previously and hoping they will again.

Indeed. Ironically one of the pieces I love beyond its merits is Four Saints ... I don't seriously consider it the third or fourth best opera. (Only better than all of Verdi's   >:D >:D ;) >:D)

HIP Faure for Nate!

I like that recording.

MusicWeb sent me this. I don't know who Einaudi is and don't know what to expect, but Lavinia Meijer is a great harp player, so.

Aw, shit. Do I have to listen to an hour of this? Goddamnit. There's an interview in the booklet where Lavinia Meijer speaks at length about her frankly embarrassing passion for this new-agey coffeeshop music that's written for 60-year-old upper-class ladies to feel good while they do yoga. I'm not even 25 but my life is too short for this.

Hahaha, well, you got me there! Maybe I should revisit this album in 50 years, then. Let's hope this thread has long been scrubbed from the internet.  :o

Congratulations on that amazing anniversary, by the way. And raise a glass of pinot to many more.
