but it's nothing certain until I have it.

I knew what I was doing when I said that. Something messed up my connection and I did not manage to record it. >:( >:( >:( :'( :'( :'( :'( It was a very beautiful, serene, pastoral piece. Definitely one of his best. :'( :'( But hopefully they'll air it again another time... :D 8)

If it was that good, they should. How about writing an impassioned plea for a repeat broadcast?

I think I'll let things take they're own course - they broadcasting enough interesting music on an everyday basis as it is - imagine if they started to consult me on their programming. ;D ;D

And now for something completely different:

Seeing that some of the files aren't as popular as I would have wished for, I'm taking this to a whole new level. Of my three discoveries of the year, only the Koszewski Concerto grosso is doing well (here is the file - for those who still haven't downloaded it).

Now, to encourage interest in the other two discoveries, here is a chance to listen to samples:

Zbigniew Rudzinski - From Rilke's Book of Hours for mezzosoprano and piano trio (excerpt from song no. 3 Lösch mir die Augen aus):
[mp3=200,20,0,left]http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/8/25/1381505/Rudzinski%20From%20Rilke%27s%20Book%20of%20Hours%203%20Madey%20New%20Warsaw%20Trio.mp3[/mp3]
You can download the cycle by following this link.

Then there is the Kassern Concerto for soprano and orchestra. Here's and excerpt from the second movement:
[mp3=200,20,0,left]http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/8/25/1381505/Kassern%20Sop%20cto%20sample%202nd%20mvt%20Oles-Blacha%20PRO%20Wajrak.mp3[/mp3]
You can download the piece by following these links: 1st movement, 2nd movement, 3rd movement. (The file names were a bit too long and their extensions were cut off. To "repair" them - add ".mp3" at the end by using the "rename" option after downloading.) EDIT: repaired links added

I guess I've also scared a few people away from the Mykietyn's Shakespeare's Sonnets cycle. It's really worth hearing, a very enjoyable composition, reminiscent of Nyman's best vocal pieces. Here's a sample:
[mp3=200,20,0,left]http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/8/25/1381505/Mykietyn%20Sonnets%20for%20male%20soprano%20and%20piano%20nr%202%20Laszczkowski%20Grzybowski.mp3[/mp3]
You can download it by following this link.

And finally, the Piano Concerto by Stefan Kisielewski. Again, a real treat. Take a listen to this excerpt from the final movement:
[mp3=200,20,0,left]http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/8/25/1381505/Kisielewski%20PC%20finale%20sample%20Drewnowski%20SilesianPO%20Swoboda.mp3[/mp3]
Download the entire concerto by following this link.

Not sure about the Shakespear sonnets, but the Rudzinski-Rilke work is spellbinding.

Texts? Or at least specific references... The Book run for about 200 pages...

Well, you don't get my Radio Discovery of the Year accolade for nothing! Kassern, Koszewski and Rudzinski got it, Mykietyn did not. But I'd still encourage you. Here are two more samples:

Well, the problem is that these are sung in Polish translation and I don't have a bilingual edition. So far, I've been able to identify:
1. I'm living just as the century ends (Ich lebe grad, da das Jahrhundert geht),
3. Put out my eyes and I can see you still/Extinguish Thou my eyes (Lösch mir die Augen aus)
5. Lord, it is time (Herbsttag).

I can give you my rough English translation of the Polish translations - maybe you can help me with the other two?
2. "You are a muttering 'person who likes comfort', you sleep next to fireplaces..."
4. "There are cries of birds in the faded forest, cries without a reason in the faded forest..." (the title is: Anxiety)

Oh, and I've posted a piece of orchestral music by Moniuszko (no need to advertise that name I hope :P) over here.

It's now against the rules of OperaShare to use their links in blogs and forums, so I can not steal their material anymore. Other links I have are... well, they may not be legal. What is worst, my connection is now an awful one, and uploading big files is mostly a painful process (I have a video of Mahler's third conducted by Dudamel at La Scala, from a concert in 2006; and I'm really sorry I can't share it here).

The Dobrowolski files are downloaded. With the surfeit of downloads I find myself facing, it could take a few months before I listen to them though :P.  I'm still about 12 discs' worth short of being up to date just for the polish ones...

Well, here is something that might be interesting but I have no idea if the files are still available or not (never managed to download anything from Megaupload myself). Anyhow - three complete operas by Rimsky-Korsakov under Golovanov's baton (The Tale of Tsar Saltan, The Invisible City of Kitezh,Christmas Eve)

Instructions:
1. Decompress the APE file using Monkey's Audio
2. Use the CUE file to make a virtual CD from the WAV (got from step 1)
3. Use your favourite CD-Ripper to complete the task.

If you get an APE plugin for the program you use to create audio cds (for example, Nero) you can open the .cue file and burn the disc, skipping steps #1 and #2.

Er, without wishing to be the party pooper here, how exactly do many of Bonehelm's uploads in recent posts constitute 'broadcast' material? They're clearly rips from commercially available CDs. Unless I'm mistaken? ???

OK, this is what I did. Don't anyone get your knickers in a knot yet.

No, they aren't broadcast, they are commercially available recordings.

I cut out those posts and put them away where the board owner can see them.

When he reads them and decides whether to keep them or not, then he will return them or not.

Kindly don't go on posting a lot of these until we get some judgment on it.

Thanks,
Gurn  8)
