Orpheus and Tasso are especial favorites!

I pick Orpheus and Les Preludes.

I suppose this is Thomas Jensen (1898 - 1963). "Thos" looks a bit strange.

That's right (in English, Thos is the traditional abbreviation for Thomas).

I figured so, but in Danish it is ridiculous.

Prompted by this post:

For a live recording this is remarkably detailed. It is also an in-credi-ble performance. After subsequently reading reviews of various recordings of this work, I deeply regretted buying Kubelik's 1959 Vienna recording when I had a chance of getting Wit for the same price. But this more than makes up for that slightly ropey performance - so far it comes too close to perfection to imagine a better performance (although judging from reviews, Wit may be able to equal it). The sheer presence of the music is impressive - convincing me of the brilliance of these epic works, where previously I had enjoyed their tunefulness but not found anything gripping about them.

I wonder if it will make me finally enjoy the last two pieces.

Have you heard this one by Ancerl, and if so, how does it compare?  This is the only version I have, but the playing is wonderful.

Unfortunately not :( The only others I can recall by name are Levine and Berglund - both fine, but less good.

BTW, that box is tempting me - I own and love the SQs.

Same here!  I have and love the Panocha Qt. recordings of Mr. Dvorak's quartets.  Does this boxset also include the Piano Trios?

Damn but he looks like James Butler Hickok late in the famed shootist's short life:

How bizarre - I was listening to this at about the same time, Dr Karl. Every time I hear the closing bars of the 9th I think 'now that's how to end a symphony cycle!'  :)

Then Copland - Appalachian Spring. San Francisco Symphony - MTT.

It doesn't look like it, but you can check it out HERE.  I only downloaded two works from eMusic, so I don't have the entire set.

Thanks Todd.  I've wish listed both the PQuartests/PQuintets/Quintets/Sextets set and the Piano Trios (Suk Trio).
