I just got this CD from Germany (Momox), the 1994 2CD set "Stravinsky: Symphonies & Concertos" (Philips). Well, I take the booklet out, and there is a business card in it...

It's a little off-white. It says "Igor Stravinsky" in italic font. That's all the card proper says. Then, in black, or very dark blue, ink, it is written, "To ** Klaus T-e-r?-f?-l-o-t-h with best wishes for (this is written above the "Igor Stravinsky")... his beautiful flowers (written under)...

and then, under that, what looks like "IStravinsky"

and then, under that, "Hong Kong Apr 3/59"

Needless to say, I am aflutter at the prospect here... can we dig any?... I'll try to get a pic on here...ooo, this is exciting!!

Now that you have a Holy Relic, you need a reliquary.

German consul in Hong Kong.

wow!!- yea, we just check Stravinsky's signature online, and roomie thought it looked like quite the match!!

AAAHHH!!! This is obviously making me feel like God Himself sent it to me,... I mean, you all are my witnesses to IgorMania2017... and the date is even somewhat specific to me and Igor...

and- 1959 is just such a BigYear for Stravinsky...

MY THEORY:

Maybe this German consul man knew Max Egon von Furstenburg or Raoul Dufy, for whom IS wrote separate little tiny elegies. Maybe KlausT. was touched by IS's elegy, sent the flowers, (I mean, KlausT. was most likely a FAN of IS, no?), and then got the card in a letter or whatnot.

WILL ONE OF YOU GIVE ME YOUR EMAIL, SO I CAN SEND YOU THE PIC (WHEN IT COMES, TOMORROW OR FRIDAY) SO THAT YOU CAN PUT IT HERE ONLINE- you know what computer problems I have

SOOO EXCITING!!

An article from the "Siebenbürgische zeitung" /January 2011.

The article tells that Terfloth is mainly remembered for his work in Rumania :

"...erster Botschafter, der die deutsche Minderheit hier entdeckt hat als ein Ziel, dem sich die deutsche Diplomatie zuwenden sollte....". The first ambassador who discovered the German minority (in Rumania) as a target to be devoted to...

Anyway, he seems to have been a very cultured man, interested in history, the arts, architecture, etc. So, no wonder he sent (april 1959 / Hong Kong) Igor Stravinsky some flowers to welcome (?) him ( his wife, Nicolas Nabokov and Robert Craft...).

I have no biography of Igor at hand for more details.

IT'S FREE!!

Wow, well... I'm STILL impressed!!

If you search "Stravinsky Memorabilia", there is another card with IS's exact font- it's from 1966?, and he's asking CBS where's my money, yo? LOL!!

You can also search his signature, and, if you don't get chills, I'll refund your admission fee!

Here 'tis:

On April 6, 1959, Count Max Egon von Furstenburg died, for which IS was asked to write his 'Epitaphium'.

In November 1958, Stravinsky had a falling out with Boulez over the disastrous Paris premiere of 'Threni' (Boulez being totally unaware of this). Apparently, Boulez had not pre-prepared the orchestra well enough, and the choir was deemed unusable, even though the show went on to horrible results. IS never forgave Boulez, which was news to Boulez- it's even funny how, in the Stravinsky/Boulez DG Box notes, it is made oh so clear how the two had reconciled over Boulez's previous vitriolic attacks on IS's Neo-Classic style, but no mention is made of Stravinsky's feelings on the matter.

BOULEZ=DICKHEAD?

Anyhow, I'm just giving some context to what's on Iggy's mind @April'59...

Parsifal

Seems quite clear it is a Stravinsky signature. A nice surprise.
