My one resolution this year is to save up money to move back to Boston.

What are yours?

Fend of recession by buying more discs. More seriously: I have none (I think).

I resolve to return to the home key of D minor.   :P

Happily, I did not read that post later on in the night, or I might have woken up the neighbours with my burst of laughter.

Thanks for that. :P

As for the New Year, I can only hope for a resolution, rather than promise it! ;D ;)

I dunno. Quit smoking. Exercise more. Eat better. Be nicer. Give more money to my undergraduate institution.

New Year's resolutions are like driving a left-handed stickshift for an American: baffling, complicated, and probably not worth the disappointment.

To try to stop reading or posting on this site while simultaneously trying to grill lamb steaks and roast potatoes >:( :(

This leads to the blackish hardened mess I am currently attempting to crunch my way through and will probably lead to me burning my house down if I am not more careful :o :o ;D

When I toasted 4 bagels in the oven on "broil," and started preparing a salad instead of watching that oven like a hawk, the results were not edible. Smoke was pouring out of the oven.  Pan and all were rushed out the door to prevent the air in the kitchen from turning black.  I pitched those babies in the shrubbery and told them, "See you in the spring."  They were like pieces of charcoal.  We get so much snow that no one will ever know they're there.  ;D   0:)   8)

Have more of an effort to have a stronger bond, a better relationship with my 10 year-old stepson Owen.  We get along great, but I could definitely make an effort to be more involved in his life.

you know it is the same for most Europeans

I have no resolution except that of not losing all the bad habits which I've so sedulously cultivated over the years.

Today I made a list of resolutions, and was alarmed when I saw how long and formidable it was.   :o

There is one, however, that I think I can keep: Waste less time on the Internet. I have a few hours to prepare myself mentally for that.

This year is the first one I'm having serious resolutions. Let's see how it goes. It all sums up in "healthy body, healthy mind". I have no vices like smoking or drinking, but I sure could eat better and stop being so damn sedentary.

I wish you all success in your goals.

Orgullosamente diletante.

don't be duped into thinking that those and many other things are "vices". That's just a word put out there to control people by instilling some sort of silly moral misgiving. Resolve not to trust those and those things which purport to sway with subtle moral baggage and you'll be far happier in life.

Smoking and drinking are just habits cultivated by those who want to control what people spend money on. :P

Philip Morris assures me that there are health benefits to smoking!  There's been research!

If it was good enough for nine of ten doctors in 1952, then it's good enough for me, dadgum it.

After enough cigarettes, that's what all your words will sound like.

That explains much of my dad's speech-patterns towards the end.

I want to become a competent cook. :)
