Is there anyone who is around my age?   :P

Renfield

Well, I'm 20, as is Brian (roughly), Greg (G$) is 21, and Corey is 22, among our younger members.

And when I joined, we had at least someone who was 16 - and from Hong Kong, to boot! But now he's 18 (though still from Hong Kong :P) and I haven't seen him around for a while, either, so that doesn't help. :(

PaulR

I was that age 6 years ago, soon to be 7 (20 now)

Kullervo

Wasn't Monsieur Croche 16 or thereabouts?

Oh yes, I'd forgotten Monsieur Croche.

No, just old constipated men here.

Bonehelm?
Well, I guess you would call him "Honk Kong-Canadian."

Wow, that was awkward. It's like when I daydream about Xenakis, I have to remind myself he's "Greek-French".

Well, he was Greek-Greek.

He grew up in Greece [after age 10, apparently - see Wikipedia; but from Greek parents], he fought in the war in Greece (more than one of them :P), and left only when he was prosecuted. In effect, you might say Xenakis was likely less French than I am British.

(Which isn't to say he's not part of France's tradition. My comment refers to whether he was natively French enough to be Greek-French.)

How dare you >:(

I don't mind being called 'old'(well, actually, I do...but I can live with it ;D) but I am damned if I am going to be called 'constipated'!!!

ooh, he's a tough one to categorize, eh? I forgot that he was Romanian, too........
now that I think about it, he must've  known at least 4 languages- Romanian, Greek, French, and English (at least). I suppose that's not uncommon for Europeans, though.

Two languages is not uncommon, four languages is uncommon. It's not that rare, but it's uncommon.

Or it is very, very rare that such kids spend their time on classical music forums even if they love classical music..........

Dundonnell

I started building my classical music LP collection when I was 14 but I remember going to my first orchestral concert aged about 9 or 10 and writing a short article for my school magazine about it. The concert included Holst's Planets Suite.

Unfortunately...that is RATHER a long time ago now ;D ;D

It is absolutely wonderful though that you are into classical music and that you are posting here :) There are a lot of members here with very considerable knowledge of all parts of the repertoire so you should find membership both entertaining and informative.

A Very Warm Welcome!!
