Quote from: Crudblud on February 19, 2026, 01:28:19 PMThe complete original television broadcast of The Yellow Shark has been uploaded to YouTube. May be difficult to access due to regional copyright; I had to use a VPN to make it think I was in (continental) Europe.

Très cool!

Although nowhere near Thing Fish on my personal scale of preference, Bongo Fury didn't much sing to me when first I heard it in the late 70's. That said, I have so much enjoyed the concert performances in all the 50th-anniversary editions already snaffled up, and my appreciation of Beefheart is much greater now than then, so I did not hesitate in the least to order the new Bongo Fury box. Starting out by revisiting the album itself.

Overall I really dig the album. "Advance Romance" (which I've known via several live performances) is a great favorite. The two tracks that I especially didn't care for back when, "Carolina Hard-Core Ecstasy" and "Poofter's Froth, Wyoming Plans Ahead," remain tracks I can live without. The remainder of the album I enjoy without reservation.
