Dancing Divertimentian

No reason to suspect it's a fake.
Veit Bach-a baker who found his greatest pleasure in a little cittern which he took with him even into the mill and played while the grinding was going on. In this way he had a chance to have the rhythm drilled into him. And this was the beginning of a musical inclination in his descendants. JS Bach

Apart from the Op 10 Etudes, it might explain Cziffra's approach to Chopin

Is this real?

Why not? Learning to read Braille is nothing to be ashamed of.

Cziffra's french debut was in 1957, Cortot died in 1962. Enough time for a picture. Read somewhere that Cortot particularly liked Cziffra's performance of Schumann's Faschingsschwank aus Wien, can't recall was it about recording or concert performance.

Cziffra recorded that work in 1958. This makes sense — thanks for the info!

Have you been declared winner?

No.

Does that mean I can't know what the prize is?

Here is a sneak peak:

B_cereus

the picture of Cortot & Cziffra together looks genuine enough

i am always amazed at unknown archive pictures of a meeting of great musicians; or perhaps one shouldn't be too surprised. :D

another that caught my eye is Solomon and Gilels... who knew?
