Breton is the only Celtic language still spoken on mainland Europe . It would be terribly sad if it  died out altogether.
Let's hope this will never happen !  The Celtic languages were once spoken all over Europe , and even in what is now Turkey, believe it or not . Some people in Turkey are known to be descended from them ; that's why people with blue eyes and  light hair are not uncommon there . I once met a guy from Turkey, and he looked just like this .

"Polish Jews were killed by the nazis and not by the Poles" - not entirely correct.  In Poland, Ukraine, Latvia, & Romania many civilians aided them - much to the shame of the decent people in those states.  Of course, the SS was brutally killing Slavs that they felt had to go, too - so I'm sure many of those who initially aided them then were eliminated themselves in Poland and Ukraine.

And nationalism doesn't have to mean segregation - just a people recognizing who they are, and taking pride in self-identity - it's often been a force for good.
Saint-Saëns, who predicted to Charles Lecocq in 1901: 'That fellow Ravel seems to me to be destined for a serious future.'

After a good deal of thought, it is my decision to lock this thread, at least for a while. I have  no stake in the issue beyond the fact that it is in the best interests of this forum to minimize the amount of non-musical controversy being presented. There have already been some regrettable occurrences and things said, and it is hard to see an up side to continuing.
