Although I'm much more into Romantic music, for this one.....I'd have to think it's almost a no-brainer.

BWV for me!  ;D  as long I could have a lot of modern instrument recordings.  0:)

People would rather believe than know - E.O. Wilson

Propaganda death ensemble - Tom Araya

What next?  Filet mignon v Big Mac?  (Seemingly unfair to Ralph, I know, but a one-to-one correspondence is not intended.)

RVW might have suggested voting for Bach, given his love of the St Matthew Passion.

This is like asking me if I'd rather be kissed by a beautiful woman or hit over the head with a rotting fish.

Well?  :D

Hey, Ralphie does have the most actively posted "composer discussion" thread going for him.  Vaughan Williams' Veranda.   :)

[BWV] a lot of modern instrument recordings.  0:)

Hey, that's as good (or bad) as RVW, for me. >:D

Apparently, that seems to be my trait in polls like this one.

That's because the Bachaholics are busy listening to music which speaks for itself and the geni... er, brainiaciness of its composer. 0:)

I think that's enough RVW bashing for today.

Currently listening to: Brandenburg Concerto No. 6 - Linde and his Consort

Man does not live by Bach alone.

When I'm in the mood for RVW, no amount of Bach is going to fill the bill.

On the other hand when you have day after day in which there's nothing to do but stare out at the sea, the last thing you want is a chorus shouting out "Behold, the SEA!"

But COMPLETE WORKS vs. COMPLETE WORKS? On a desert island??? No competition.

Ah, now the potential deserted island inhabitants are actually pondering what life on that horrible island might be like.  Point very well taken.  (Bach doesn't have any oceanic choruses, does he?)

More likely to be able to build some kind of rudimentary raft/signalling device/fire out of the complete Bach+packaging than the RVW.

Haffner

I voted Bach, but only because I'm not yet acquainted with RvW (I haven't been to Boston to see Karl yet). So maybe my vote should be retracted. I'm regretting it now.

Dundonnell

Far be it for me to spoil anyone's fun......but can I just point out that it would currently be impossible to have the complete works of RVW on a Desert Island(I am presuming that Navneeth meant to listen to as opposed as the scores :)).

Until someone takes the trouble to record the Cantata "Folk Songs of the Four Seasons" that is ;D

Whichever floats your boat, Colin! ;) Even score-wise I think I would find Bach intellectually more stimulating, now that I'd have all the time in the world to discover stuff like this and more! :)
