Martha doesn't signal when the orchestra comes in, she's just pursing her lips.

I was sorely tempted on these, too, Bruce!

Yeah, but if we're all on the same desert island....

There has got to be a 'reality TV' show in there, somewhere.

Sergeant Rock

the phone rings and somebody says,
"hey, they made a movie about
Mahler, you ought to go see it.
he was as f*cked-up as you are."

People would rather believe than know - E.O. Wilson

Well, coming in late to this thread and many of the listed recordings I own and love - I guess when selecting 'desert island' discs, a major criterion is which ones would you want to listen to 'over & over again', esp. if only a small selection; so, just some of the ones that meet that criterion (may be repeating some already listed - sorry!):

Ammons, Gene - Gentle Jug (several options - just pleasant listening)
Armstrong, Louis - some already listed; how to even pick? W.C. Handy, Fats, Porgy & Bess w/ Ella?
Baker, Chet - again, so many; but 'Chet Sings' is one I can listen to over again.
Bechet, Sidney - Proper has a great 4-CD box set!
Brown, Clifford - CB w/ Strings (not his usual, but I can listen to this forever!)
Christian, Charlie - Genius of Electric Guitar.
Cole, Nat King - Trio & Box Set (have to bring some Cole, esp. singing?)
Coltrane, John - Ballads (but some would have other choices)
Davis, Miles - so many to chose from & already some listed.
Desmond, Paul - boy, so much mellow pleasure (own 6 CDs - hard to pick!)
Eckstine, Billy - how can you not live w/o hearing that voice?
Ellington, Duke - Small Groups recordings.
Evans, Bill - Trio 64, Digs..., Waltz For Debby (maybe others).
Fitzgerald, Ella - Well, my 'Complete Songbooks' is 16 CDs!
Garner, Erroll - Concert by the Sea.
Getz, Stan - again, so many - love his fusion 'Samba' stuff, but?
Goodman, Benny - Trio & Quartet sessions - can listen to these forever!
Hawkins, Coleman - Body & Soul (and as usual so many others)

Well, I've already double the requests - just too many, so I'll stop @ this point in the alphabet because for me the task is just not easy - again, I've been picking recordings that bear 'repeat listening' for pleasure & for myself.   :-\ ;D

I think all I'd take is the Mosaic Andrew Hill collection.
