I just read a topic in Usenet, "Zu welchem Behufe ... ?". I think the usage of such words is funny.

"For the behoof of", "on my behoof" - Is that as archaic as the same german word, e.g. "zu welchem Behufe ..."? I mean, really archaic? Thanks...

Behuf: purpose, object, aim, end; behalf.

So says my Cassell's German-English dictionary,  1978 publication. I have never used it, nor ever heard it being used.
