Here was a recent NPR interview with Billy Bob Thorton.

Do you have any special record shops that you haunt?  For me, this one:

There are hardly any classical record shops in London, or anywhere else in the UK apart from the giants like HMV and Tower Records. All the nice old small classical music shops have closed down one after the other - a very depressing situation for those, like me, who liked to spend hours browsing in such places. Long gone favourites included Farringdon Records in Cheapside (not the one at the Festival Hall), Imhoffs in Tottenham Court Rd (where they used to arrange the LPs by label), The Classical Longplayer in Brighton. About the only survivor (for how long?) Harold Moores near Oxford Circus.
"Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm" (Churchill).

'The test of a work of art is, in the end, our affection for it, not our ability to explain why it is good' (Stanley Kubrick).

Amoeba in Hollywood would probably be the only place I know of that has that kind of stock (judging by that picture, which could be deceiving), though I can't say I really care to hang out in Amoeba.

In San Diego I enjoy hanging out at Record City (no classical) and Stereo Unlimited (mostly classical and jazz), but they are pretty small in comparison.

Jerry's Records in Pittsburgh PA. Not a classical specialist by any means, but he has thousands of old classical and opera LPs. And I suspect he knows where large collections may be buried.

Here is what we call that in Colorado:

I would like classical on LP more if it weren't for surface noise (record washing I found to be of no use), but Jerry's is good for pop and rock. Like a lot of retailers, he now saves a lot of his best stuff for auction--but, hey, so would I if I owned a record store.

Cool, I will definitely need to check those out next time I'm in Philly.  Are they mostly vinyl, or do they have a decent selection of CDs?  Decent classical selection, or mostly pop?

Nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds,

And his affections dark as Erebus.

Is this place still at the top of Liberty St, across from Dawn Treader Books?

Looks like they have a lot more stuff than they used to have in the nineties.

Both have lots of vinyl AND CDs but  have very little classical.
