Getting Lost

And I mean, driving out to the middle of nowhere, not knowing where you are, for the fun of it.....
so lost you have to ask for directions, and you didn't bring a map.

For me, just finished doing that today, and it is REALLY fun. I don't know what you call the feeling you get when you do this and enjoy it- is it just some type of catharsis? I'll have to think about it and post some thoughts later.

I have done that often, minus the getting direction part. Several times, I took off from LA going more or less west to northwest, wherever that leads me to. The longest I ever went was for a week. I happened upon some very interesting place, met some very interesting people and it's 100 times better than a scripted trip that most people take nowadays.

I think I might do that one day.... just drive off into whatever state I feel like driving to, bringing a map but not looking at it as much as possible, and finding hotels to stay in to spend the night. It really is fun to spend the day completely oblivious to what time it is.
