Hi guys,

here's a new revival of the famous clip quiz. Every day this week (let's see how it will go on later) I will post 4 clips of music (15 seconds) and 1 clip (5 seconds). The one who recognizes a 15-seconds-clip (the work OR/AND composer) first will recieve 2 points (1 point composer, 1 point composition), for the 5 seconds clip you'll get 4 points (2 points composer, 2 points composition).

Enjoy!

I'll always announce the next round. First round will start in 30 minutes (03:15 AM forum time)

clip 3 is dvorak's eight symphony, finale

damn, those orchestral ones are really easy, but i don't listen to piano music that much, can't tell what those are.

rappy

Well, the 5 seconds orchestral clip is still there...
The piano clips are quite difficult, I agree.

@facehugger: correct, both

No clue on the piano. The 5 second one, uh, Haydn maybe? LOL I'm bad at this kind of game...

EDIT: Scratch Haydn. I think it might be Handel. (But I'm sure I'm wrong, hehe)

rappy

Totally wrong ;-)

Think about more modern composers!
Thought you guys on GMG are familiar with the 20th century repertoire?

Well the work's pretty darn easy! Odd sound quality. The performer, no clue, he kind of hits a clunker at :23 doesn't he?

With old violinists, I like to think that's part of their style. (As with Enescu and the Bach partitas).

A clue: most of his recordings come from RAI broadcasts.

The 5 second clip is Nielsen's 4th, 1st movement.

Dunno for sure either, very hard to say from such a short clip, but it sounds a little like Menuhin.
