It's the one titled "Ivan Moravec plays Beethoven," the one with the concerto. I discovered last week that my copy was defective. On the last three tracks, there's an intermittent static-like sound. I called VAI and told them, they shipped me a replacement. However, the replacement has the same issue, only at different spots on the CD.  ???

Any of you have this problem before and know what I can say to VAI on Monday to get a non-defective copy of this CD?

Can't tell right now. I'm at home and my CDs are at work. I'll check in the next day or so. Hope it's just a current fluke. IIRC, VAI was one of the labels (along with Pearl) that suffered from bronzing a number of years back, at least with discs manufactured at one particular plant. Wonder if this is a related or totally different problem.

On my copy of that CD I think I can hear a sort of humming at the beginning of the third movement of the concerto. It quite spoils my enjoyment, which is a pity because it's a pretty unique and interesting reading I think.

OK, VAI sent a replacement to me, but the replacement was also defective. They checked 3 or 4 other copies at the label and they also had the defect. So they told me that they will see if they can repair the files, but it doesn't look good. In the meantime, they offered to send me another VAI CD. I asked for this one

Walter Gieseking Plays Beethoven (1931-1939)
This collection includes the Sonata No. 17 in D minor ("Tempest"),
Sonata No. 21 in C major ("Waldstein"),
Sonata No. 23 in F minor ("Appassionata"),
Sonata No. 28 in A major, Op. 101,
and the Bagatelle in E-flat major, Op. 33, No. 1 - (Mono)

and they agreed to send it to me.

A shame about the Moravec, but VAI proved to be a standup company with very friendly customer service.

There are a few CD's by Rosalyn Tureck on the VAI label I would like to get ...

Suppose these are the Tempest from London (1931), the Waldstein from Berlin (1938) and the Appassionata from New York (1939/40). These are far better IMO than his later sight-readings (Tahra 1940es and EMI 1950es).

Good news! Thanks.
