In DC, there is a tradition of having summer sings, meaning singalongs, for big choral works. DC is a great town for choral singing, and the majority of those who participate in summer sings know the work(s) being sung, so the musicmaking sounds pretty good for a pick-up group singing together for the first time. Sometimes the choristers even honor the dynamics! :D

Tomorrow night, some friends and I are going to a Brahms Requiem summer sing; this will be sung in German, unlike a singalong some years ago out in a suburban church in which the work was sung in English (:o), which rendered me literally speechless, as my score has only German text.

Have you summer sings in your burg? If so, do you go to them?
