Donwyn, Renfield, you are both silly gits.

Because of a silly whim I got this:
[directly from Japan, though].

Beethoven, Symphonies 1-9,
Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, P.K.

This better stun me, sound great, iron my shirts, and make me breakfast in the morning.

Post Scriptum: Due to the cheapo Super-Saver shipping option that CDJapan offers (which I always take them up on), I won't be having/hearing this set for weeks... maybe months. Although in a bad economy, left-over cargo space should be plentiful, so I'm hoping to hear this within a fortnight.

Let us know what you think.  I hardly need yet another Beethoven cycle, but if you're stunned, well fed, and nattily dressed, I just might give it a go.  You and Don both have very high batting averages (which is why your differing views on the Hagen 127/132 damn near demanded a listen!).

Should we be disagreeing amidst all this saluting?

With all that drinking, there's bound to be some disagreeing.  ;D  ;)

Already have it: bought it at an honest-to-god store, occupying actual ground and space! Yeah, I know...what are the odds?  ;D  I'll post a report once I listen to it. Been listening to the New Year's Concert all afternoon...makes me feel good  8)

Whoa! A genuine store? Who knew! :D

Latin American Classics on Naxos.  This is actually labeled Volume 1.  I guess there was never a Volume 2.
Which is a pity, because that is a fantastic disc.

At long last, pulled the trigger for these:

Very much interested to hear what you think of the Egyptian Nights disc. I've eyed it on and off now for some time.
Be kind to your fellow posters!!

Have you purchased anything from studio52 before, are they reliable? The site looks OK.

Have an itch to try some more of the Hagen's late Beethoven. Hoping for the best (they're capable).

In this way he had a chance to have the rhythm drilled into him. And this was the beginning of a musical inclination in his descendants. JS Bach

You're a lucky man. But *wow* that's an expensive import. Why not simply Amazon? Much cheaper.

Will you settle for floss?

A good floss... but it'll have to be raspberry flavored.

Amazon with free shipping (to my US address) would have been more expensive than importing this set from Japan and having it shipped to either of my addresses. Or are you saying: Why not the three individual boxes?? True... but if I had bought those new from Amazon, it would only have saved me three or four bucks, and I thought that was worth having the integral set.

Donwyn, I believe.  Admission requires that you post reviews (or at least impressions) of at least the 3rd, 6th, and 7th from the set.

I think it must be either donwyn or Que, though the latter has shown little interest in the fan club's proceedings. ;D

And, a feast indeed!

I'm interested in your take on the Medici Masters Klemperer 9th. I bought (and listened to) it last month - but I wouldn't want to bias you. :)

Yes, I meant three individual two-fers, though I should have specified the Marketplace, not Amazon proper.

But yes I can see the allure of an integral set.

That's fair.

As President I heartily endorse this action. 0:)
