For goodness's sake, will somebody please stop these things arriving in the post! I'm so busy, and I have a whole boxful of Solti's Ring to get through, but the stuff keeps on coming. Does Amazon know no pity?

If you have too much on your hands and are overwhelmed, I will gladly take the Solti Ring off of your hands to help relieve your situation.  :D

Now that's what I call kindness.

If you want to relieve yourself of anything in your classical music collection save for Wagner and other opera recordings, I would be so bold and send you my address.
Its time I get something too, after all that giving of mine. ;D

Ah, how Frodo dreamt that someone could just take the Ring from him . . . .

When I start giving them away, Harry, you'll be the first on my list.

You should collect some vocal scores. Then you can sing them without electricity.  ;D

Only during the day.  8)

Bravo!    No trees, just forest.   No pianist, just Beethoven.         Simply an amazing interpretation.

Is this an attempt at sarcasm?

Not at all. "...Even more somber, impressing through immense clarity and understatement, are the Backhaus readings, the later stereo cycle of which is a much cherished favorite of mine."

I love, love, love Backhaus in Beethoven. I crossed out "interpretation" because they don't seem to be interpretations but manifestations of just the music. Very 'simple'... and out of that comes sheer greatness.

Sergeant Rock

Arrived today from the UK: Martinu string quartets and symphonies, plus a Lieder recital from the much missed Lucia Popp.

he was as f*cked-up as you are."
