Daniel, all of those are splendid recordings. You can't go wrong with any of them. This is definitely an MI-approved purchase if I've ever seen one. 8)

Serious table-pounding for the Bartók set! The rest look mouth-watering, too - the Berg set I'll probably get at some point this year. Your auntie has a good taste.

I wish I had as generous American friends aunties  8)
haha, thank you both. Looking forward to listening to them all! And, John, thank you so very much for those presents again, really very kind of you! :)

My aunt is pretty awesome herself. She bought a huge art history book awhile back that has served me well. It's good to have relatives that know what you're into. 8)

Made a small (compared to my usual) order with Arkivmusic tonight.

The first two were bought entirely on speculation because of the performers;  the Bach received a good notice from someone here on GMG (Greg perhaps?)

Arrived this morning: my first Feldman CD. Shown here with the alternate cover  ;)

One of the best from feldman. Great place to start. And I think this is the preferred recording (to the one that i have).

Good to know. I've never gotten beyond short clips with Feldman. I hope this will convince me to give him a more serious listen.

With feldman, clips mean absolutely nothing. It's all about scale. You have to listen uninterrupted through the whole thing.

IIRC, if you repeatedly play that short clip an appropriate number of times you will get Piano and String Quartet. ;D

Sarge, if/when you're in the mood for more Feldman, this is pretty firmly lodged among my five favorite Feldman works (and it has enjoyed recent performances in both Boston and Atlanta):

He won't. He will just delay reporting purchases until they can be grouped into the Birthday Report and the Christmas Report.

He'll just give his family lots of money to buy presents for him.
