After nearly four years discussing this, you've finally done it! Agonizing indeed ;D  Congratulations  8)  I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. It's worth whatever you paid just to hear Karajan/Vickers/Janowitz's Walküre Act I Scene 3. The way Vickers sings Braut und Schwester bist du dem Bruder, so blühe denn Wälsungen-Blut! will curdle your blood.

Sarge

I know Sarge, I know!  I should be tarred, feathered and beaten with a wooden stick by every self respecting Wagnerian for what I have done over the past four years  $:)  $:)!

It took you, Andy, Jezetha et al to get me to do what I should have done years ago!  I feel ashamed for I lack will power.  All that is behind me now.  My Monitor Audio BR1 speakers are ready, my listening couch is nice and comfy, let WAGNER UND KARAJAN take me away on the greatest music adventure ever conceived.............   0:) 0:) 0:)!

Well, the advantage of taking it slowly is that it gave you lots of time to thoroughly absorb Solti and Levine. I bought Solti and Böhm in the early 70s but didn't get around to Karajan until 1986/87, three times longer than it took you. I own twelve Rings now but it took almost 40 years.

  BOOM!

My 3rd RING CYCLE ON CD (Fourth in total with Levine on DVD).  This was a very agonizing purchase.  Bought from amazon.co.uk marketplace sellers for a whopping £63  including shipping (OH GOD I REALLY HOPE I MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE HERE) this set has a lot to live up to.  It will sit alongside the SOLTI RING, THE BOHM RING and as mentioned above the Levine DVD ring.  Now why buy it?  Well I wanted a totally different interpretation to all the other ring cycles I have.

This is my 4th Ring Cycle and unfortunately, it is still in its cellophane since I bought the set a few months ago ...

Maybe the most remarkable thing about them is that they can play the violin well?
I'll settle for that. I'll never meet them anyway.

Just ordered:

Let me know how that Suk recording is Daverz. I heard it was an excellent performance of those works. Thanks.

Claimed I would never buy at Borders.com again,  but got this item for $22, shipped with a coupon (that's 1/3 less than the best I could do on Amazon).

Probably Borders, Scarps, if I'm not mistaken, has had some trouble with them in the past.
