op.110

To any residents of the NYC area, I was listening to WQXR a couple of nights ago, and for the first time in a long time, I was listening to this segment hosted by a guy with a very soothing voice; he talks about classical in much detail, picking apart the innards of each piece, and seems to be pretty knowledgeable about classical. What's his name and what's the name of his program? Also, from what I remember, he plays a lot of Richard Goode (if that helps).

I moved away from NY a long while ago...

Are you talking about piano music or orchestral? If it's the former there is Reflections from the Keyboard with David Dubal, whom I personally find insufferable. If it's not limited to piano music, there is Exploring Music with Bill McGlaughlin. Also there used to be Adventures in Good Music with Karl Haas, but Haas died and I'm not sure they still broadcast his old shows. Peter Schickele also had a show of that sort at one point. Not sure if he still produces it.

Gee, I guess the price of a telephone call to WQXR is a budget buster for you.

Call them. They'll answer your question immediately.
"Good", is NOT good enough, when "better" is expected

Actually you can get the broadcast schedule and playlists at the WQXR website.
