Don't fool yourself. Odds are you will see her more than ever now, since she isn't duty-bound to Alaska any longer. Any wisdom on her part will have her attending some sort of current affairs seminars during the next year or two... :)

Perhaps...

Anyhow, watching her speak today was too much..... And I thought Mark Sanford hit a new low of cringe-worthiness   :-[

Let her run in 12, she has no shot against the emperor anyways.

What is it that's wrong with her.  Is she a nightmare?  Why doesn't anyone like her?  She seems presentable enough.  ???

The media presented her as an airhead, destroying any chance McCain had of winning.

Um, the media did no such thing. They didn't have to do anything; all she did was speak.

That was enough.

Pretty, too bad her head was a tad empty.

A few problems.

1. She doesn't know anything about foreign affairs and little about national domestic ones.
- The McCain campaign coached her strenuously on major campaign topics but she still did not demonstrate an understanding of them.
- She considered being next to Russia a qualification for foreign policy expertise.

2. She is a generally ignorant person.
- When asked to name a newspaper she reads, she could not give a single one. Her answer: "All of 'em! Any of 'em!" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRkWebP2Q0Y
- She appears to believe that gay people can be "cured" of their homosexuality.
- She believes God told America to invade Iraq.

3. She has had numerous ethical charges leveled against her.
- When an Alaska police officer cut off a romantic relationship with Palin's sister, Palin demanded the officer be fired. When the head of state police refused to fire the officer, saying there was no good reason to do so, she fired the head of state police.
- After being nominated Vice President, Palin spent $150,000 on clothes for herself and her family, including $4,902 at a single store for clothing for her husband. The money was provided by the Republican Party - and, since the Republican campaign was publicly funded, this means it was provided by taxpayers.
- "Palin formed the grandiosely named Alaska Fund Trust, to defray a reported half million dollars in legal expenses arising from a slew of formal ethics complaints against her in her home state—prompting yet another formal complaint, that the fund itself constitutes an ethical breach." - Vanity Fair magazine
- Currently rumors are swirling that Palin received free construction materials for her house from a company which she endorsed in TV ads - and which she gave several million dollars in official government contracts.
- Palin used private e-mail accounts to conduct state business, thus avoiding a law which says that official e-mails have to be made public on request.

4. She has shown poor judgment as a leader.
- As mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, Palin asked a librarian if it would be practical to start censoring books.
- As mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, Palin spent several million dollars on the town's largest construction project ever - an athletics center. The building, designed to encourage healthy levels of exercise, was placed far enough away from the city that it was only accessible by car.
- "As governor, she hired several old high-school, hometown, or political friends with minimal qualifications for important state jobs. One friend, a former mid-level manager for Alaska Airlines, headed the department that reviewed candidates for state boards and commissions; another became director of the state Division of Agriculture, citing a childhood love of cows as one qualification." - Vanity Fair magazine

JdP, I'm really surprised you said that. It was almost kind. Are you getting soft??? ;DDid your nephew get on the computer while you were away? I'm concerned. :(

Picking Palin was a calculated move to garauntee Obama the WH. McCain knows who he works for.

Don't know about the others, but I do know that this situation wasn't nearly this straightforward.

A new source has confirmed this story. In fact, the following words have been used: "a federal indictment is pending authorization." Palin hired Spenard Builders Supply to bring in raw materials and equipment for the construction of the Wasilla Sports Complex - a $13 million dollar job. In return, SBS built Palin a new house free of charge. The lakeside house is valued at over $550,000.

Incidentally, the design of the Wasilla Sports Complex was entrusted to an architect whose father just happened to be head of the local Republican Party.

Again, this is still a rumor. But the chances that it was made up by a vindictive blogger seem to be shrinking.

The cop was a slimeball, but had already been disciplined for his other skullduggery. I can't remember what his relationship with Palin's sister was.

"A few problems..."  lol   A few too many to menion sounds like.  So now I know who the lovely woman is and what she's all about, all I can say is I'm glad McCain didn't win if he CHOSE such a gocky bird to be his second.  (Didn't trust the guy anyway, the USA and the World got the right man in the end). Sara is shapely and very nice to look at, all woman (albeit 100% niave and clearly stupid).  However, as a result of this,  I would have other ambitions for her which may or may not relate to pillows and matresses, NOT International Politics.

I watched her statement yesterday and it's hard not to feel sorry for her. She seems to be having a nervous breakdown, and it shows the monumental negligence of the McCain campaign. This is a person that is obviously spiraling down into chaos. She can't perform the job she has, and all she can do now is go on a speaking tour to raise money from a shrinking pool of admirers. Believe it or not Republicans are not entirely faith-based and they can see what's in front of them, and they know higher office is not in Palin's future. It's either Fox News or talk radio, and right now I'm not even sure of Fox News.

I was amused how on the news they described her farewell addressed as long, rambling and confused.  But on the other hand I agree with Ernie, she's clearly having a breakdown, it would be a tragic sight except out of office she has the potential of earning and wasting even more money!  I don't know why people are even speculating that it's to prepare to run for president.  You don't show your loyalty to your people by quitting your duty serving them.  It seems obvious to me that she's bowing out of the political arena.
