I think the game will win in richness if it's allowed to continue on earlier associations. Otherwise you can't make public strong associations you have on earlier associations, which would be a loss.

Bad idea.  Makes the game much too easy.

I think I agree with the rule of continuing only with the previous association. The game getting stuck at some points has something positive and calming merits. Also the possibility having the right of an exclusive association being published has it's charms.
