I just saw that this is coming out in August.

Thoughts on this? It seems like DG is packaging a lot of duplicate performances in here (i.e. there are two performances of Beethoven's 2nd PC as well as Ravel's G Major PC). I love her Prokofiev PC 3, and would like to get the first box, the solo recordings, but I'd rather not duplicate by buying the first box and then the Prokofiev PC 3, Ravel G Major PC, and Gaspard disc as well. (The Gaspard is also included in the first box set.)

I welcome thoughts on either of the box sets, the solo recordings or this new one coming one later this year. Excited?

VERY excited. I own almost none of these DG concerto recordings so I can't wait for this release. The Solo box is superb, worth every penny.

Thanks for the heads up on this new box.  :)

I think I'm excited, too. I know the Prokofiev PC 3 and the Ravel PC with Abbado are near legendary, and I imagine the Liszt PC 1 and the Chopin PC 1 with Abbado are also quite good. And it seems like the British reviewers like her Beethoven PC 2-3 with Abbado (the last disc in the set). If it's priced anywhere close to the low price of the first box, it'll find a place on my shelf.

Anyone have any comments on some of the other material included? Are either of these Tchaikovsky PC 1s well-regarded? I would imagine that the Beethoven PC 1-2 with Sinopoli are quite unique. Anyone have any of these recordings already that you could comment on?

Intriguing... two Ravels and two Tchaik 1s, plus a Shosty 1st. Didn't know she had recorded that. BTW, the Tchaik with Dutoit/RPO is superb. I have the old LP. I consider it far superior to the one she did on Philips with Kondrashin, which seems rushed and not very well conceptualized.

Good to know, it's one of the few included recordings that I don't have.
