BWV 1080 classification?

Keyboard
Any
Should be keyboard, but let poor Springrite have his say
Not any, but not just keyboard
It's not a keyboard work

;D

And since most of the Big List is just reworkings and transcriptions, this thread is getting kind of redundant. :P ;D

Just wait for phase 2. ;D

Yeah but this is what I get for allowing whole books to be nominated. ::)

Well, after listening to the Big List, I think I couldn't care less about such vapidities. :P >:D

.....................

I think it's time for BWV 58 Ach Gott, wie manches Herzeleid.
(Not on the slightly smaller Big List .... yet.)

Okay there you have it.  Sorry I threw out BWV 1060R because it broke my rules
Quotefragments don't count, spurious compositions don't count
and reconstructions fall into fragment/spurious category.

Phase 2 begins after the three day weekend is over.  In the meantime there are a few things I'm looking for:

(a) corrections to the list, i.e. mistakes I made
(b) identification of any fragments or spurious compositions that somehow made it on the list
(c) voting on a poll (I'm about to make) on whether bwv 1080 should be allowed in any category besides the keyboard

I think I might eliminate bwv 1079 from the orchestral section, isn't it a chamber work?  Can somebody explain to me how it got on the orchestral list?  Or was that simply an accident of mine?

This thread has turned out quite fine. :)

Yeah I just saw that, it is sad not to see BWV 58 on the list.  On the other hand, I'm glad to see that BWV 88 is NOT on the list, it has it's moments but meh. ;D

I'd say: chamber music.
But: this thread is your party. We're only visitors. ;)

Wouldn't be much of a party if it's just myself. ;D

Okay Musical Offering is now chamber only, also somebody noticed that I just dropped the French Overture down a black hole, it's now on the list. :)

DavidW

Done, bwv 1080 will only appear in the keyboard list as per the results of the poll. :)

Time to lock the thread, we're done here-- part 2a can be found here, other threads will follow quickly on it's feet, we're ready for phase 2.  I hope that posters are willing to keep this going. :)
