Well, maybe not best ever, but then what is? Genius doesn't even begin to describe this playing. Start with what appears to be a teenage guy, add a pimped-out accordion, use what can only be described as a brilliantly original choice of music to be arranged and an even more spectacular arrangement of the music itself, and add jaw-dropping technical fireworks.

I literally can't believe I just saw this. Be sure to stick around for the final coda.

Just ... wow.

The Monti Csardas in the "Related Videos" isn't as incredibly well-arranged, but it is still a total showpiece.

BLOODY BRILLIANT! I loved it! (Take that, Jascha!) Thanks so much for posting it, Brian.

~7:23-30, one of my favourite parts in the original work, I wished for a little more for the "orchestral part" to be heard. Nevertheless, I want a recording.

Very cool!  I had to do some research on this, though. I was only familiar with piano keyboard accordions. This guy is playing what I think is a chromatic button keyboard accordion. Is it a bayan? Can any accordion experts tell us more about the instrument?

Can I have the link to the performance?

Hi Tony & Brian - that is an amazing performance! As a teenager, I took accordion lessons for nearly 3 years (a Hohner piano accordion w/ the full bass buttons).  My 'limited' understanding of accordions divided into the 'button' & the 'piano' types w/ the former having right-handed buttons that were quite symmetric in appearance; SO, the accordion being played by this kid looked quite different to me - also did some web browsing which brought up a 'chromatic bayan' type of presumably Russian origin - this seems to be a chromatic unisonoric (i.e. the same pitch sounded on push & pull of the bellows - can't imagine playing a bisonoric instrument behaving like a harmonica - YIKES!) - reference HERE.

NOW, in my retirement, I bought me a 'new' (and inexpensive' accordion for about $500 - shown below right) - has 72 bass keys which is not what I learned on but fine @ this point in my life - I'm playing some simple songs but enjoying the experience - BUT, don't expect to see me on a YouTube video in the near future!  ;) ;D  Dave

Wow...this kid is fantastic! Thanks for the sharing this video, Brian. It just goes to show you that there's massive talent to found throughout the world.
