I'm getting undeliverable returned email of spam stuff I never sent.

What does one do about this shit?

Thanks.

ChamberNut

Sorry Dave, thought you were OK with it?  ;)

Seriously, I'm not sure on how you go about that  ???

BTW - Happy Birthday dude!  8)

Your mail account has been hijacked, amigo. I advised another member last week, after i got spam from his email address, to close that account and open a new one. He replied that he had come up with some way to avoid doing that, which would have lost an account name that he fancied, but I don't know how he did it, or if it worked. He may see this and fill us in, or not. :-\

PS - I don't need any Viarrga (sic), please stop sending those ads.... ;D

Thanks for the birthday wishes, Ray.

Gurn, if they hacked my account, why didn't they change my password? I just went in and changed it. Not sure that will help.

Dave - what e-mail client are you running?  Outlook, Outlook Express, another or using a web-based mail service, like Yahoo?

If you're using a client on your machine, then I agree w/ Gurn that 'something' my be using your address book or generating random addresses.

For me, I would first run my 'malware' programs to check for trojans & other types of 'nasties' - don't want to be a 'zombie bot'!

If you believe that your computer might have an infection which remains elusive, you could visit one of the computer forums that deals w/ these issues; I belong to the CyberTechHelp Forum - there is a 'Malware Removal Subforum' there w/ some excellent people trained in 'scanning' your computer and helping you get rid of any potential problems - costs nothing; I've used them several times myself - found nothing serious but it was reassuring.

Good luck - Dave

That article I posted doesn't mention mal-ware. I have a Mac; we're not supposed to get viruses!  ;)

My client is Earthlink.

Sorry, Dave, did not know (or remember) what brand machine you were using - ignore my post, should not be an issue.

I'm on my 'old' Linux (Ubuntu) laptop at the moment - so, no need to worry about malware, either!

Let us know 'what' you discover, though - Dave

Thanks for the scoop, Soapy.

Yeah, I don't want to change my email address if I don't have to.

Dave that's weird.  We are both DavidW's, and our birthdays are right by each other! :D
