Remember Cosima's Rule:

What happens in the Festspielhaus, stays in the Festspielhaus.

Wise rule! What a pitty it was not obeyed and now we have Wagner's music all over the world...  ;D

You want funny? Cosima would allow Parsifal productions to play in Monte Carlo (read: rich clientele who don't have to make the inconvenient trip to Bayreuth), and she called them "rehearsals"  ;D

Well, if he does not mind meeting girls I met before! ;D

Harry

Almost two hours before countdown, my knees are a bit wobbly! :)

Funny indeed, but check out this --- very real --- one: after a performance of The Flying Dutchman a few years ago in Bucharest, I heard one of the biggest Romanian bussinessmen of that time (who was accompanied by a blonde whose legs were starting from her throat) asking one of his companions: Superb! When will they perform the next opera?

Knowing your fine tastes, I expect high quality.  :)

Compassion would be nice

Compassion?  No, sir.

I was once taken to a production of Nixon In China - in an old opera house, with no aircon, during a heatwave - and sat in a seat designed for a child, so far up I had to hang on to the wall with one hand - for hour after hour - now that was an ordeal:  not just mind-numbingly tedious, but buttock-numbingly uncomfortable as well.  I only survived by getting totally wasted during the 2nd interval (and I was not the only one doing that...)

Boris Godunov?  Piece of cake.

Oh, Harry: Nigel has a steel-tipped point there!

Harry

Two hours, and I am shaking!

Harry, my friend, excuse me, but you sound like a nerd just before his first sexual encounter...  ;D

So, Harry . . . how long will it take you to get to the theatre?

15 minutes by car Karl, so I will go in 50 minutes.

Anyone would think he was going to be castrated. My milk of human kindness is completely drained....well, I think it will be at least five hours until it is replenished.

Meantime, I will be listening to the new release from Pink Martini.

Mike

I wasted time: and time wasted me.

Garn, Mike!  I heard them at Symphony Hall for a Pops concert, if you can believe it . . . .

knight66

Did you enjoy them? They have only made three discs, despite continual popularity for about 10 years.
