You've been hired to create a "bleeding chunks" compilation of Webern's music.  The only requirement is that it fit on one side of a vinyl LP.  What would you choose?

Given Webern's penchant for brevity, op.1 through op.31 should fit nicely on one side  ;D

Why choose?

Maybe because some of Webern's pieces are better than others?

It's all great stuff ... and for just a little over 20$ you can easily get & explore it all

Except that's not all of Webern's music.  You would need to get DG's 6 CD set that includes the non opus number works, including Im Sommerwind, an excellent early (and romantic) work.  About half Webern's output does not have opus numbers.

As to the question, assuming the LP was a later one that was exceeded 60 minutes total, I'd say the two "big" orchestral works (the Passacaglia and Variations perhaps), one set of songs with orchestra, the piano variations, and a handful of songs should all fit on one side nicely.  Any leftover room could go to a work for string quartet.
