Unpleasant news.  Mr Coutaz lived a long life and certainly is responsible for some fine recordings.  May the company he founded continue on indefinitely.

Here is an interesting story from last April about Mr. Coutaz and Harmonia Mundi. He leaves a remarkable legacy.

Farewell, Bernard Coutaz, and condolences to Eva Coutaz.

He was indeed "a man with a vision", who brought pleasure and joy to countless classical music lovers. May God have mercy upon his soul! RIP.

Indeed. I was pleasantly surprised to read the following:

QuoteHarmonia Mundi cashed in on its brand loyalty to open its own European retail chain, which the company says brings in a quarter of its revenue.

Has anyone in the forum been to one of these stores?

No, but I'm pretty sure I've bought from them off amazon.

HM is a Great label.  It and Hyperion have brought many lesser known but excellent classical recordings to music lovers the world over ...

The only one I have ever been in was in Toulouse - a small store exclusively selling Harmonia Mundi disks. I have never even seen another one, so I am surprised at the quarter of revenue figure!
I have nothing to say, I am saying it, and that is poetry.

Perhaps the amount also includes the sales from being an Amazon Marketplace seller.
