I recently found an old copy of Colin Davis' recording of Mozart's 39th and 41st Symphonies with the Staatskapelle Dresden.  It was a Philips disk.  I was blown away by both performances, and so want to acquire the rest of Davis' Mozart symphony recordings made with this group.

I know there's a box set of the symphonies conducted by Davis produced by Decca.  Are these the same performances as the ones released by Philip's?  I assume they are, but want to check if anyone knows for certain.

In this way he had a chance to have the rhythm drilled into him. And this was the beginning of a musical inclination in his descendants. JS Bach

The Penguin Guide recommended that CD a long time ago, and I found it to be terrific, wonderful performances and fine sound.  I looked up his set of nos. 28-41 on Amazon, and it looks to be a great value.

My one comment, if you want to go for something unabashedly non-HIP, you could go "whole hog" with this one instead.

Huh?  That is the set that has been discussed since the original post.
