我非常喜歡布魯克納 ^ ^

BRUCKNER's 5th Symphony.

Then, Beethoven and Dvorak.

An easy one. Nielsen, Vaughan Williams, Shostakovich, Holmboe - he should have been included instead of Alfvén, imho.  :-X

But also Martinů, Englund, Honegger, Arnold, Sibelius, Mahler, Tchaikovsky and an old guy called Beethoven wrote fine Fifths.  :)
... music is not only an 'entertainment', nor a mere luxury, but a necessity of the spiritual if not of the physical life, an opening of those magic casements through which we can catch a glimpse of that country where ultimate reality will be found.    RVW, 1948

Its criminal to make me choose between Beethoven and Shostakovich, but I gotta go with Louie, with DSCH a very close second, followed by Dvorak and Schubert and Mendelssohn.

Finally, an easy poll!  ;D Without a doubt Tchaikovsky 5.  And thanks to the poll creator for writing 'favorite' instead of 'best'.
Be kind to your fellow posters!!

At the moment it's a tie between RVW and Beethoven, both on 3.

I think I can hear Josquin weeping :'(

ubeliavable, Sibelius got only one (mine...?) vote?! >:(

wich one is the Mendelssohn fifth? If the Italian, then this is tricky... Also the Schubert fifth is sooooo charming and cute :-\

No I think it's that one with the chorus.  You know the one that only Karl and Saul listen to... <ducks!> ;D

No, that's #2. The 5th is the one without the chorus (that only Karl & Saul listen to). :D

Well if it doesn't have a chorus perhaps I should give Mozart and Haydn a break and give it a fresh listen, it's been a few years... I can join Karl and Saul's club! :D

LvB....the bridge between the 3 and 4th movement is sublime (below the green lemon). 8)

I resent that comment; I listen to both, too!  $:) ;D

However, with dear old Ludwig among the contesters, I couldn't possibly vote for anything else. My second vote would go to Bruckner.

Oh you wanted to know that?  It's the fourth. :)

Too hard to decide between Prokofiev and Mahler... but I ended up choosing Prokofiev because I think the whole symphony is strong, whereas with Mahler, I only listen to the first two movements.

Bruckner, Tchaikovsky, and Atterberg are also good ones...

springrite

Between Beethoven, Nielsen and Sibelius, I finally chose Beethoven.
