I would also say that Krasnoyarsk airport (Central Siberia) ought to be renamed in honour of the C17th German composer, Scheidt.  But so far my suggestions haven't been taken up by the airport's management.

Calling Gubaidulina "Russian" is like calling Alun Hoddinott or James Macmillan "English" composers   She's a Tartar, from Kazan'.  (It's something that rankles with Tartar people, so I always prefer not to mix this up). Perhaps they will rename Kazan' airport after her?

Perhaps the most famous Siberian composer went on to write "Alexander's Ragtime Band" and "America, America!". Step forward, Irving Berlin - born in Siberia as Israel Balin.  But you can imagine the confusion if there was a "Berlin Airport" in the middle of Siberia

...which my family used to control when they were the "Tatar" Giray Khanate. Sorry, just a shameless plug for my ancestors, who ruled the Crimean and Ukrainian Tatars from the 1430s until the Russians kicked them out.
