Well, I suppose it's a good deal if you really feel you must have the four Clementi symphonies... ;D

Seriously, for someone who doesn't already have versions of the items there (meaning, probably not you, Harry!  :D) it looks like a decent introduction.

No Tchaik 1-3.  ???

I live and breathe Tchaik 1-3 .........

I think Brilliant should offer a box set of their entire catalogue for about $500, yeah that sounds pretty reasonable: 5000 CDs (or 2000 or whatever) or $500.

BachQ

No Mahler 10?  ???

I live and breathe Mahler 10 .........

Very interesting for price buys : These are well worth anyone's time

Haydn:Symphonien Nr. 1-104 (Austro-Hungarian Haydn Orchestra, Adam Fischer)
Beethoven:Symphonien Nr. 1-9 (Staatskapelle Dresden, Herbert Blomstedt)
Clementi:Symphonien Nr. 1-4 (The Philharmonia, Francesco d'Avalos)
Schubert:Symphonien Nr. 1-9 (Hanover Band, Roy Goodman)
Schumann:Symphonien Nr. 1-4 (Academy St. Martin, Neville Marriner)
Schostakowisch:Symphonien Nr. 1-15 (WDR SO, Rudolf Barshai)

The Goodman Schubert is underrated, but not by me.  I really do admire this set, very pure, HIP and not overpowering.

The Mahler set is not IMO worth any salt, bar the Horenstein 3rd and the Neumann 5th if I recall correctly.  The ones listed would make my collection, and the ones omitted, best to look elsewhere.  But at that price, a winner for a newbie or an explorer...any why not?

Harry, couldn't resist, the Stravinsky 22cd set is on order from UK Amazon for £24 free delivery (don't mind waiting an extra day or two for delivery, the word FREE always gets me)  ;D  Bar the concertos, the Abbado twofer and a single Monteux cd my Stravinsky hearing is pityful.  He is a composer whom I have ever had the drive to explore....just about to put that right.  The UK set is issued next week  ;D

Wow there isn't a single Bruckner track. Shameful.

There is little of that, and considering the price, its a darn good deal.
Most of these performances are already in my collection, and I can say not much to criticize.. ;D

Some of those are very highly regarded, indeed. The Mozart sub-set is pretty good, too. All in all, quite a deal.

I am just going to wait and pick up the Fischer Haydn symphonies in the possible upcoming (fingers crossed) Complete Haydn set by Brilliant.  ;D

That is really in the pipeline Bill, and it is rumoured to be this year, but then you never know with Brilliant.
But that is what I hear, from the dungeons. :)
