I find much to like in how Luciano Berio handles the mixture of taped electronics and voice and other acoustic instruments.  Did you listen to any of the clips?

Indeed very nice clips, especially "visage" impresses me. Thank you for that. With Berio I always had the feeling, that he was immensely talented but for some reason seldomly realized completely satisfying works. Well with visage he seemed to achieve this.

A friend of mine lately recommended me the works from Laurie Spiegel, a minimalist composer that works mostly with electronic means. I find the following track from her is both, deep and accessible.

The gong diffuser? If I recall, it is in the third movement of Messiaen's Turangalila-Symphonie (near the beginning, before the part that gets real loud with the slides).
Beethoven's Op. 133 -- A fugue so bad that even Beethoven himself called it "Grosse".

Stockhausen's Kurswellen and particularly Prozession, if I've spelt them right, are among the most original of electronic compositions.

Laurie Spiegel's idiom should similarly have some potential.
