Does anyone know who the violinist in the final scene is?  :)

Brian

If you're talking about the 2009 movie, it's Melanie Laurent - a highly accomplished actress. :)

Thanks - I didn't know she was really playing the violin - you know how it goes in movies - the actor/actress appears to be playing the piano, violin etc. but in reality it's someone behind the scenes.

Oh, dear, I'm sorry but I was completely wrong, just looked up the actress.  :( In an attempt to make it up to you, I did more research. The credits list a pianist and an orchestra, but not a violinist. In the discussion somebody mentions a "Sarah Nemtanu," who is not in the credits.

Here are two interviews with the actress:

QuoteYou play the violin so beautifully in this film. As far as I know, you are not a violinist. How did this role come to you?

ML: The director chose me. I met him three times to speak about the script. He chose someone else who could not play the violin. The role was a big challenge involving much training. She dropped out. My performance is fake except for the right hand. The left hand is a special effect. It's a lot of work to learn fake movements.

I hate having to tell people how we did it. My left hand is fake, but my right hand is real. My left hand is a special effect. My right hand is on the violin, and it has to be in the right places, and it has to hit the right notes. I had to learn how to play these pieces, but in two months you can't learn to play them with both hands. So I only learned the one hand. I do play the piano quite well. But trust me, it's very different.

I tried to find out - even emailed the producers and never received a reply.  Whoever played in the final scene is a gifted violinist and should have been given credit.  Can't understand why credit wasn't given.

Thanks for giving it the "good old college try" :)

For what it's worth, Sarah Nemtanu, whom one of the IMDB visitors claims is the violinist, is principal violinist of the Orchestre National de France. http://www.concerts.fr/Biographie/sarah-nemtanu

many thanks - it's hard to understand why credit wasn't given to this very fine
violinist.
