Enough with the silly polls already!
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

Sorry. I'm in a mischievious mood. ;D

Frankly I am tired of how people laugh at my Elgar stuff. Now that M forever is back I feel even less enthusiastic of being around. People can have their Mahler and Bruckner. I have my Elgar! I'll be alone but at least I have it my way!

Favorite Beethoven opera? Leonore of course.
Reality trumps our fantasy far beyond imagination.

Me too. Have both, prefer the earlier one. :)

Silly threads and polls is one thing, being provocative just to provoke is another.

Brilliant have just brought out a boxed set at bargain price containing Fidelio and Leonore. The tiny advert I saw gave no performer details.

Q, Thanks....looks well worth a risk. I have never heard the first version of the opera, it is bound to be fascinating to grasp the differences.

Goll-dang. That Brilliant set looks pretty good. I admit that Fidelio is one that I've never heard, but it looks like that will probably change soon(ish).

It's not your fault in any way Mark. You are one of the friendliest persons around here.  ;)

Somehow Beethoven and Opera don't seem to go hand in hand.

I have that Leonore in its original release on Berlin Classics, and it is very enjoyable indeed. I haven't heard the Fidelio from this one yet though. My guess would be that they are a great pairing, and at the Brilliant price, probably less $$ than what I paid for the Leonore alone... :-\

I'm, like, totally offended that this poll has been changed so that my "Enough with the silly polls already" vote now registers as "[That Hack] Elgar's operas rule"  >:(

Seriously, now that I know polls can be changed like that, I won't be voting in another one here.  This is worse than Florida.   ;D

knight66

Yes, it looks like serious rigging. We need a transferable vote if the rules are being changed after some voting has taken place. Clearly the originator of this thread is a born politician.

Gabriel

Hello to all... I'm back after a long absence (and hello to the ones I haven't talked - or written - to). :)

Well, in fact, after the subject, I expected a discussion on the three versions of the opera (Leonore 1805, Leonore 1806 and Fidelio), which have all been recorded.

As Gurn (with whom I tend to agree on these subjects), I prefer the 1805 version.

Gurn Blanston

GABRIEL!!

Welcome back amigo! Don't leave us like that for so long, you rascal!  :D
