Did her mother manage product placement contracts in Kim's sex video?  That's the origin of her celebrity, a parallel with Paris Hilton.

That's actually pretty interesting, because Kim was able to really capitalize where Paris was not. I'm unsure how 'unscripted' the release of the tape was. I mean it could have been a clear marketing ploy; as 'sex tapes' aren't really causes of infamy anymore, especially of her type, which are akin to something you might see on Cinemax.

Kim was defiitely created from that mileau though, and I think it was her seemingly 'blind' ambition that drove her to the status of a celebrity. I'm unsure when Kris really became her full manager. I think it it happened because there were so many appearances, that Kim did need someone to assist her.

Either way it paid of handsomely for her.

I don't understand why this "Kim Kardashian" is supposed to be so important...  ::)

Two obvious reasons:

he was as f*cked-up as you are."

You sound like a #1.  Given current laws, under what circumstances might you be forced to suck in smoke?
That entirely depends on what country you live in. However, that has nothing to do with what you said. If you are a smoker (or maybe others can answer), then I can take this opportunity to ask why you (again, if you smoke) would smoke ANYWHERE if you knew it would be drifting to other people and forcing them to inhale said smoke. And let's be reasonable, we're talking about indoors in confined areas, outdoors when the wind is taking smoke to a neighboring table, etc.

It has been my experience that smokers are often courteous to people they know are non-smokers and/or when they see their smoke is inadvertently blowing into someone. I also think that a courteous request is almost always better received than a dirty look.

Be kind to your fellow posters!!

Well I enjoy her, but I don't think I'd call her all that important. I think she's an interesting character, and perhaps even an interesting case study. I also find Paris Hilton to be very interesting.

1.  unable to find something, only to find out that I left it in a strange place.
2.  people who have to talk to their friends, acquaintances, bosses (or whatever) either in the middle of the room, or right by the door.
3.  People who smoke right next to a door.  I don't care if one smokes or not, but I don't.  I don't want to inhale it every time I enter or exit a building.
4.  Arrogance.  People who think they are smarter/better than I am, and shove it in my face.  Regardless if it's true or not.
5.  How easily I get pissed off.

I wouldn't; I'm a very considerate guy. ;D

You know Kim Kardashian becoming famous for a sex video explains a lot... because she looks like a porn star! :D

She is not important: the phrase "famous for being famous" applies here.

And why?  "Infamous" is the better term.  Sarge has two answers above, but like others of her ilk, she is actually infamous for her idiotic behavior.

Well that was true in the beginning, but as I pointed out in my post, it's patently untrue now.

And she's more important than most, but that really doesn't say anything at all.

If she's anything like Paris Hilton, I don't want to ever hear about her again. I would rather only say "Paris Hilton" as a cuss word.
It's really sad how these people are glorified and famous, while the people who actually contribute stuff to society aren't nearly as much.

You've just made my day, Greg.  Thanks!

Have you become one of those posters who simply reads posts that confirm already what you affirm?

I'm not even sure what you mean by that.

I'm saying- assuming she is anything like Paris Hilton. I don't really know anything about her, so I don't know if she is or not.

How could that be?  Wouldn't you have to read the post first in order to determine whether it confirms your views?

That you sought out a post that you seemingly agreed with, even given that there were many posts that were more informative, and in fact debunked some of what he posted.

And is being Paris Hilton a negative?

You miss the point.  The dismissal of Hilton and Kardashian is to prove to himself that he is a cultural "elite" despite the fact that he is utterly obsessed with puerile Japanese cartoons.   ;D

Turning away from people annoying you:

The exit sign that is positioned in a movie theater so that it's green glare washes across the screen.
When you impulsively buy music straight on your touch/iphone and it vanishes before you sync?  Yeah don't like that.

When it was warm/hot one week and chilly the next?  That is the worst.

Forecast for here tomorrow: AM = 44°F (7 C), PM 88°F (29 C). Enough contrast for you? It isn't like we're in the desert where that sort of thing is dictated by the terrain... :-\
