Anyone from New Zealand?

I am planning to take my parents to New Zealand for about a week, with possibly a two-day stop at Sidney. Vanessa lived in NZ for two years a decade ago, living mostly on the South Island (Christchurch) so she highly recommended this destination. Do we have anyone from New Zealand? Any recommendations would be highly recommended.

I hope to take them to a rugby match if one happens to be scheduled during our stay.
Do what I must do, and let what must happen happen.

Christchurch would not be a good place to visit right now, after the magnitude 7.0 earthquake in September. A fellow I know says that afterwards it looked like a zombie movie.

Solitary Wanderer is from NZ; but he hasn't been here for a while, sadly.

Thanks. Yes, I know about that. I have been through a dozen or so fairly big earthquakes. I know both how serious it is as well as how people who has never been through it over-estimate its impact. I personally don't think it will impact our plan. Besides, it's only for a few days, much of it will be outside of town.

Hello Springrite

Christchurch is still functional so all you have to do is fly into the airport and move on from there. There is much beautiful scenery in the South Island though Vanessa will know that better than I will.
Cheers
