19 discs. 42 £.

Karl; you are permitted to break down now.

Well, yesterday while GMG was broken down, and half of us had the no-GMG jitters . . . I yielded to temptation, as well.

A brick-&-mortar shop a couple of blocks away had the last Genesis (studio) box discounted, and for $45, I could not forbear.

I suppose you have the pre-83 discs? A quite different animal that Genesis.

karlhenning

Aye, I fetched in those two boxes much earlier.  Wasn't sure I wanted to trouble with this one. But soft! I'll take this to the Non-Classical Music Listening Thread . . . .

shakes head,... mm mm mm mm mm ::)

It's 'soft', huh Karl? So THIS is what you've been holding out for? ::) oy!

snyprrr

oh,... and your Thread here?,... ok,... 'Developing Resistance' has now taken on less than ironic dimensions.

oh,... and your Thread here?

Well, I intended the thread for general interest.  At the time that I created the thread, I didn't know that I was flying solo . . . and thus essentially allowing myself as a sort of target (not that I see any cross-hairs, or anything).

So, what do you advise? Shall I close the thread because of this lapse?

Perhaps you're right. There's really no point in leaving the thread operational if it is (as seems to have turned out) "about me."

Good-night, sweet thread!

karlhenning

OTOH, since we are striving for resistance, rather than absolute immunity . . . thread on!

Purchase-free all morning.  I will not buy any music before six o'clock . . . .

You weren't flying solo at the time; but I turned out to be Icarus.

from the 'CDCDCD Reference Manual':

"Once a subject has relapsed, they will reach their previous bottom, quicker and harder, than before."

Can you stop at just one? just one Box? just one Cycle? just one Series? just one Genre? just...Karl, dimmit man (slap, slap, slap), can't you see you're tearing... this... family... apaaaaaart???? :o :o :o

To the rest of you: Do you see how Karl is masking his disease by diverting your attention away from the unmanageability, the core of this problem, which is what we are working on in the,... other Thread!!! Don't let Karl lull you into a false sense of security with his devil-may-care attitude. Soon you will all see what happens when a Hard Core Junkie falls off the wagon and starts to justify massive BoxSet Purchases as necessary 'food'. It won't be pretty, let me assure you. Tsk, tsk. ::)

Thank God...no temptation for me.  (37 discs of Britten?  Are they serious?)

Yeah, that was my thought.

This is going to be difficult, but the only real obstacles I see are
1. Running into Harmonia Mundi stores on my travels in continental Europe
2. Hyperion's Please Buy Me

The only thing that's really on my wishlist is the Bernstein Symphony Edition, which will never reach my price range anyhow. But if I get a fellowship from a PhD program and some guaranteed income + teaching work, I'll splurge on it and take it to the new school.

Oh, it's not everyone's money, I grant.

If only I weren't saving for the 100 CD collection of Grofe's greatest masterpieces.
